Thoughts, suggestions and complaints regarding the SpellBinding game
Nons: FOODBALL BARFLOOD ROADBLOOD BALLDOLOR BRABOOB FOODBARF
May 2024, status report — It's been very quiet here... I've been traveling a bit and in spite of weeks of neglect, the game seems to be running all by itself. That is how software should work, don't you think? Looking at missing word submissions (in-game enter dot followed by a word you think should be included)... A handful of words were sent: CUVETTE, RIMY,RIMIER,RIMIEST,VAGAL, SOLIDUS, BUMBLEBEE, BEZEL, GAMEY, GABBY,GABBIER,GABBIEST. Thank you for your submissions -- I do get to them...
FLEEK
Added: METH
Added DOXX DOXXED AXLED APEXED APOPLEXED Thanks @gritty ! Note: even though APOPLEX is technically archaic, I've always loved the word in all the meanings of APOPLEXY...
Count of solved words now displayed — As per @skyjake 's suggestion, the list of solved words is now preceded by the word count. The leaderboard is updated every 5 minutes, and is a little behind. Enjoy!
Added a shitton of words suggested by you in-game... Too many to bother listing.
TANKIE
That feeling when you miss a word you suggested be added in a previous puzzle.
PIGSASS
SKYNET
ANALGRAFT I'll leave the context open for interpretation.
Should we message the mod in game for missing words, post here, or just keep shtum? Related to today's game: RAGLAN
COCKSWALLOW, COCKSACK
I was surprised that CHECKBOOK wasn't a valid word today.
What strategies do you employ for remembering words/finding answers? — Depending on the letters, i'll use a lot of different strategies: - try to attatch/combine shorter words with prefixes and suffixes, especially latin/greek - combine whole words with each other - rearrange letters in previous answers - try to put together a string of letters that sound like they could be a word (this is a desperate move)
CUMPOND
STUNK
BLOWLAMP — for what it's worth, while it's in the Merriam Webster, BLOWLAMP is very much a British usage and never heard in the US. We call that a blowtorch
Word count — I find it a little inconvenient that you can only see your own total number of words getting updated every five minutes as part of the top 10. One's own words are listed right there on the page, and I often find myself manually counting them. I suppose the top 10 must be some cached static list that gets updated periodically. However, when showing the player's own score, would it be difficult to replace that cached line with the player's up-to-date current word count, so one can...
LOWBALL
DAYSTAR
BABYSAT
TRYVIAGRA ? I know its two words but surely it's worth an exception?
