Even before the 'rona it was common on my team to work from home. We would leave a message in Slack saying "WFH". Now working from home is standard practice. There are several challenges, but the hardest can't be mitigated by leaving the house for a location where you work, and that is communication.
As we settled in to working remotely the number of meetings burgeoned. You could no longer easily just speak to a couple colleagues, you now had to schedule a meeting.
Within the meetings, body language is minimal or, more commonly, non-existent. Thus they are longer and more contentious.
Technology is wonderful, but the value of face-to-face interaction should not be forgotten.
