Software Engineering

Coding is a mentally taxing activity. To be a software engineer requires coding, but it also demands interpersonal skills and constant learning in the target domain. Complex interactions, both technical and human, must be conceptualized and manipulated toward nebulous ends. The challenges are manifold.

Sleep Deprivation

Babies undermine high quality sleep. So do backaches. With three small children and a finicky back I haven't had a decent night's sleep in years, or at least not many of them. Last night was worse than usually and my capacity to focus has been poor today, which makes it hard to do my job.
