My wife and I attended a fancy barbecue today. It wasn't truly a barbecue, but it was outdoors. The company was pleasant and the food was delicious. We left the older two of our three young children in the care of a young woman from our community.
We very rarely have other people watch our kids. We live far from our parents and siblings, and babysitters are costly, and often unreliable, if not downright untrustworthy. Even so, we've decided to engage their services more frequently to give us time together without the demands of small children, who, while they are a blessing and I am so grateful for them, can be very demanding indeed.
