Broadly, I'm pro-Elvis. I've read Peter Guralnick's excellent two-part biography of the guy at least twice. As a cultural entity from the past, he's an interesting guy to read about. that feels kind of beside the point to the question of 'Is this an album everyone must hear?'.
It's not. It's like ur-Elvis. It's *fine* but a bit tame. You can hear him looking for his voice and style, but the result is a mixed bag.
