●● Twitter Accelerates Its Fall

Posted in Deception at 9:20 pm by Dr. Roy Schestowitz

Summary: Owing to truly misguided and self-harming moves, Twitter is circling down the drain; in 2023 it seems safe to assume many people will leave Twitter (not enough will join; it’s perceived to be undesirable and “uncool”) and some will delete their accounts too

GNU/Linux usage is growing and expanding in scope (the economic downturn hurts Windows), the Web is shrinking (many people give up on their Web sites), and this past weekend was spent tidying up RSS feeds — there are over 1,000 of them which we relied on!

We feel bad for people who relied mostly on their Twitter account!

Twitter is not (and never was) a substitute for RSS feeds.

One thing the mainstream media doesn’t fail to mention is the demise of Twitter. A lot of blame gets thrown/pushed Elon Musk’s way — not that he does not deserve it! The demise of the company will be accelerated further, as size erosion and losses will increase. The latest in this melodrama is, several more offices of Twitter are being shut down, an API may soon cease to exist (that means fewer users), Musk is turning the site into his personal firehose (boosting everything he says at other people’s expense), 2FA is phased out unless one pays, and there are all sorts of other scandals/blunders.

It seems likely that by the end of this year Twitter will be a mere shadow of its former self. Remember Yahoo? A lot of what we said about Twitter a year ago turned out to be true, so the feeling of vindication seems justified. █

we said about Twitter a year ago
