Summary: As the number of Gemini capsules approaches 3,000 (likely by year’s end) we look at the current state of things, knowing that even YouTube videos, projects inside jails like GitHub and pretty much every news site (owing to NewsWaffle) are now accessible through Gemini clients
THE Web is becoming more and more obsolete for reasons that we’ve covered here over the years (we enumerated the evidence before). There are tools that already make almost everything (of value) on the Web also accessible in Geminispace and the number of “native” Gemini capsules continues to grow, as charted here. There will soon be 2,700+ known capsules and we’re trying to keep track of updates in this page.

13 days ago Tux Machines changed to a new CMS that we had built for over a month and the site is now fully accessible (natively) in Gemini (with GemText). The code for the CMS is available over Gemini.
Techrights still serves a lot of pages over Gemini (about a quarter million this month) and IPFS listings are provided over Gemini Protocol in case the Web site goes down. Both Gemini and IPFS are hosted from home, where the weather forecasts are available over Gemini along with current conditions.
Gemini is relatively new; earlier this summer (or spring) it turned 3 and there’s no company (hence no marketing) behind it. It’s a grassroots thing like the Web of the early 1990s. If you are new to Gemini, start here. Download a Gemini client and surf in dignity. █
