Some news feeds have been implemented elsewhere in Gemini:
I couldn't find any for BBC news, so I set up a thing to scrape some of their RSS feeds. These don't include the full text of the story. You get what's provided in the feed: a headline and a short description, plus a link to the web page.
There are a bunch of other BBC feeds, and most other news organisations have RSS feeds. If you can figure out how to get in touch with me, you can ask if I'll put up some more. ;~)
Just don't ask for the Washington Post.
I tried to do the Washington Post but
their feed often returned "502 Bad Gateway"
they sometimes miss out the story description, so my brain dead parser failed
their site only showed me a GDPR acceptance page, so I couldn't read the body of the stories even when the feed worked
Sigh.
I also tried to do Slashdot. They provide the whole story in the description, which is nice. But I gave up because I didn't think that the stories were interesting enough.
I used to do The Register but no one was reading it so I stopped. I guess their stories weren't interesting enough either.
