Lego Robot Profiles: Scanosaurus Rex

Scanosaurus Rex was the culmination of work done 2189 to 2193 by the Utopia Planitia People’s Robotics Society. The UPPRS desired to birth a robot series who could do small scale intricate manual fieldwork yet also locally perform deep intellectual analysis. The group’s first line wardenship was approved in 2188 by the coordination chieftaincy under Syndic Martiana Aaron Fujiko Applerood.

Possessed of a 紫色庚品(Class 7 - Violet) mindcore, the Scanosaur series quickly became a popular fixture both in the Martian wilds and the ethical-learning salons of the era. The sheer heft of their associative neural faculties were supported by a large avidinoform bipedal frame. This however, necessitated that Scanosaurs often deliver their well appreciated Chautauquas by holovid. These flatvid enhanced lectures, discussions, and debates became famous for their varied interpretations, yet all held in good grace through the robot series’ consummate Twainian wit. Simultaneously jocular and fiercely incisive, the Scanosaurs found they could entertain and educate a highly diverse audience of all ages, species, and neuroclasses. This popularity was a pleasant surprise to the UPPRS developer-wardens of these robots.

Initially anticipated to possess a psyonic rating of Light Grey, most Scanosaurs were found to rate at Light Teal, a coordinate suspected to arise from the parallel diversity of their situational-locomotor arrays.

Eventually the general spatial sensitivity of the robot series, not to mention their incisive abilities of suasion, was the deciding factor in the Cyber-Situationist achievements of the day; the Forum Initiative’s popular mandate led to the compassionate redesign of amphitheatres across the Solar System. Scanosaurs were amongst leading members of the FI.

The Scanosaurs’ physical attributes were unique in their articulation of sensory and locomotor systems. Their forward sensor arrays were as exceedingly sensitive as their grapplers were nimble. A 180° wideband compound eye was supplemented by a full suite of radiological sensors both passive and active. Typically their primary near field spectrum navigated via microwave to infrared bands. However, ambulatory navigation was achieved using 360° mainband light, radar, and sonar modules, most prominently seen on the legs. This gave rise to the saying, “the Scanosaur’s knees” to indicate someone’s ability to anticipate tough conditions.

Pictured below is the Scanosaurus Rex named Sally Pourt with her humanoid companion Johnny Cakes. Such pairings were typical, with the human scale robots acting as seconds to the Scanosaur’s endeavours: nurse t their doctor. Here we see R. Cakes providing a syringe prepped with stasis fluid as he holds an mineral sample of uranium for R. Pourt’s inspection.

This duo authored a 52 episode 4D Chautauqua on the subject of uranium beetles, still the primary reference work on that subject. Later they became noted in Earthish society: R. Pourt involved herself in picohorticultural studies as a don at Cambridge, Kingdom of England, Earth; R. Cakes became an esteemed human childcare provider and storyteller. Both continue to live together at Rio de Janeiro, Brazíl Sur, Earth. Rs. Pourt and Cakes are foster parents for human Jody Huang-Salazar, M.D. They are active members of the First Church of Christ, Robot.
