A coffee break roguelike with a simple, yet challenging gameplay.
Based on the classic MS-DOS game Witchaven, you are on a mission to destroy the malevolent witch Cyrae-Argoth.
15 depth levels of hell, gore and torture for your roguelike needs during your break times.
Latest Game Version: 0.9b6 (release 9th-Mar-2023)
Works with: Love Engine 0.8.0
Note: the game ONLY works with the aforementioned version of LOVE engine.
It relies heavily on functionalities from that version, and adapting to superior engine versions would require a lot of rewritting.
As a disclaimer, you might find bugs and you could come to a situation where the game becomes unplayable. I tested it and it works fairly well, though.
There are only 3 steps needed to play the game:
1) First and foremost, download and uncompress Witchaven 0.9b6 to your hard drive.
2) Download and install LOVE Engine 0.8.0 for your platform from the official GitHub, link below:
3) Execute 'wirl.0.9b6.love' that you downloaded in the first step.
The game should be played similar to any other classic roguelike. Arrow keys or HJKL Vim Keys for movement. There are a few other key bindings that can be explored from the help screen by pressing CTRL + H or LEFT SHIFT + H.
The goal of the game is to make your way through the 15 levels down the dungeon, find Cyrae-Argoth and slay her.
In the process, you will be able to level up, collect weapons, spells, potions and several other usefull items.
But be aware, that weapons have certain durability, the same as defensive armour. Use them wisely!
In addition, the dark depths of the labyrinth are filled with terrible foes and vicious traps.

In addition to general gameplay, Witchaven: The Roguelike offers a few other features that could be useful or interesting for the player. Do not forget to read the README file for detailed information!
