Pandemic Endgame?

Yes, I am writing about COVID-19 again. One of the early predictions about how the pandemic would unfold is finally happening. The virus is spreading like a wildfire among sports teams all over the world. I have so many questions.

Is this being caused primarily by the Omicron variant?

Are these infections asymptomatic or less severe?

Have the tests become more sensitive or is the variant more easily detected?

Is Omicron able to evade the protection offered by the vaccines?

Students in schools and universities have mostly been spared so far. Is that going to change now?

Is this the final wave that will push humanity over the herd immunity threshold?

I am still planning to get a booster shot of the vaccine but I am wondering if that’s a sensible strategy at this point.
