Advent of Bloggers 2021, Dec 5th

I will try to each day until Christmas Eve present one blog or gemlog that I follow and explain why I follow it, and maybe even link to a few posts that I particularly like.

Today I'd like to bring your attention to marginalia's log:

The main focus of this log has been about marginalia's efforts to build and run their own search engine. It's informative and amusing, and ranging from the very technical like N-grams and word matching to the more human and corporate parts of it, like how bot farms corrupt results or companies try to optimise their rankings.

I'm yet again writing this very late and am just about to hit the sack, so unfortunately you'll have to do without examples of specific posts, but I highly recommend you look through the archive and I'm confident you'll find something you like!
