Wirth's law

Wirth's law is an adage Niklaus Wirth asserts in his 1995 article "A Plea for Lean Software" that software is getting slower more rapidly than hardware is becoming faster.

This correlates in a paradoxical way with Moore's law that observes and suggests that the density of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles every 2 years. With more transistors, the potential for the integrated circuit increases and adds more resources that can be used by software.

With more resources available, more resources can be used by software, but many pieces of software inefficiently use the resources. This can be seen in web browsers, and websites. It can also be seen in applications using electron, like Discord, rather than a native graphical user interface.
