This french recipe is mashed potatoes sitting on top of minced meat, grilled in the oven with cheese on top.
400g minced meat (pork or beef, or half and half)
300g mashed potatoes
2 onions
2 cloves garlic
2 tomatoes
1 Tbsp flour
1 pinch of herbes de Provence (rosemary, thyme, basil, oregano ...)
1 egg, only the yellow part
30g parmesan
30g butter
50g grated emmental cheese
Salt and pepper
Prepare the mash potatoes, I use the dehydrated one because I'm lazy and don't know better.
Preheat the oven 200℃.
Mince the garlic and onions.
Dice the tomatoes.
Heat the butter in a pan and cook the garlic and onions until the onions become soft.
Add the tomatoes, meat, flour, salt, pepper and herbs.
Once the meat is cooked through, turn off the heat, and pour the egg (only the yellow part) and the parmesan.
Mix well.
In a baking dish, pour the meat preparation at the bottom (no need to add butter at the bottom of the dish).
On top of the meat, pour the mashed potatoes.
Add the grated emmental cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
Grill in the oven until the cheese is crusty, at least 20 mins
