looms...

pardon the weird title i just couldn't flamen think of anything better

hiyerrrr how we all doing? answer right now. speak out loud to your screen like it's Dora the sodding explorer

i've been having an alright time lately so that's fun. had a few tweets blow up (cringe), drew a few shit so-called "webcomics" on me cohost profile (cringe). visited my bestie up in Glasgow last week and while the weather was shite i had a really nice time!! and it's only like two weeks til i fly all the way to CANADA!! if you can believe it!! off to see me girlfriend, can't bloody wait hehe

work's been fine. uneventful. life has been alright. aside from visiting my friend, nothing much has happened. been playing a lot of No Man's Sky lately, got really into it! i've played before but didn't get very far because i got Baldur's Gate 3 and promptly was hooked on that instead (i still have not finished that game despite my many hours in it LMAO it will probably distract me again). but it's a nice chill time and i'm glad i found something that sort of scratches a certain type of itch in my head and let's me switch off my brain, push some buttons, and simultaneously watch videos or listen to podcasts

i very briefly picked up reading again on the train up to Glasgow because i only ever seem to read my kindle on trains. but i didn't read it on the way back down because i could tell i was going to feel a bit travel sick if i did that so i just listened to some music and had a nap. i want to read more but i find there's so little time to squeeze all my hobbies into my free time. i still have an unfinished crochet project, an insanely long list of youtube videos i want to watch, a long list of games i wanna play, a backlog of podcasts (although i AM catching up on that slowly - the nature of podcasts being audio-based means i can listen while driving to work and while actually AT work), plus i call with my gf on thursdays and saturdays, my friends and i play bg3 every sunday, the same friends are also part of a stream crew and we may be streaming regularly again soon so that's every wednesday evening taken up by that... where's the fuckin free time gone?!

it's very funny for me to complain i have no free time to do things i want because my free time is filled with me... doing things i want. but also on the days i'm not doing that kinda thing i get in from work and fall asleep *immediately*. or i scroll tiktok or shit youtube clickbait for hours on end. so i do also have plenty of downtime i fill with inane drivel that i DON'T wanna do but my brain is too tired to function

if you're wondering what i was reading btw it's A Wizard of Earthsea. i picked it up because i wanted a fantasy novel that's not too difficult to read.. but ive made little progress on it because i'm finding it difficult to read. the last book i read was a Jennette McCurdy's book and that's written in very straightforward, plain english. Le Guin writes in a way that feels very... idk. almost like it's scripture? a very, "and then this thing did happen, and that did happen, and the morning happened upon him" type of thing. i find it hard to digest. i think it's weirdly because Le Guin is actually quite consise - i saw someone say they read it as though they're a peasant and it's a story that a Village elder is telling in one sitting, and he needs to get it out before his voice gives out. and it's not being told for entertainment but as a history lesson. and that's quite apt, but it's taking me some time to adapt to it. i also just don't quite know if i give a shit for the story. so far it feels a bit like nothing has really happened. and that's fine, but it simply wasn't what i expected coming into it. it's written like folklore, which i like, but it needs all of my brain to process it. and my brain is usually operating at about 20% efficiency LMAO. ive heard the book also works incredibly well when spoken aloud and the audiobook is a great way to digest it if its just not clicking when you read it, so maybe i'll try that

anyway idk where i was going with this. gawd this is a long post huh. aren't you lucky x

anyway uhhhhhhhh see ya next month i guess bye
