It has come to my attention that I have been using Manjaro for around 9-10 months now and it is the only linux distribution that I have used for a significant amount of time. I am starting to feel the itch to distro-hop. Am I ready to attempt an Arch installation? Should I try a Debian based distro next?

I've been learnig a few things about partitioning and formatting this last couple of days and added a new section where I will write about my journey in Linux:

My Linux journey

I have been trying unsuccesfully to set up a linux server in an old laptop for the past week. Mostly just as an experiment, I would like to host a small website there and/or a gemini capsule too. But I seem to have a problem with port-forwarding on my router. The router's IP doesn't coincide with with my main public IP. I've read that this is because my ISP has me behind a CGNAT. I wonder if there is some way around it other than trying to get a static public IP from them. After asking around on Mastodon, they more or less confirmed my suspicion, and someone told me that even if I can't do it with IPv4, I might be able to do it in IPv6. So there is that. But I have no idea how to do that, or if the roouter allows forwarding to IPv6 or if I have to enable it in the server, or what. Anyway, I think maybe I will put that project on hold and try to get back to doing something more like "work", whatever that means.

Again, thanks to the kind folks at tilde.pink for providing me this place of refuge from the noise and pollution of the big web. This is my first day in gemini.

In order to be able to use it, the first thing I had to do was learn how to use SSH command. I have been using Linux for about 10 months now, but hadn't really had much use for it until now. So I spent the evening learning how to generate keys and set up hostnames. Right now I am writing this from my home laptop, connected via ssh to my office desktop pc, which is connected via ssh to my user in tilde.pink's server. That's pretty cool, isn't it?
