I have regular web page for portfolio, resume and similar stuff to get a job and clients. I'm not interested in using HTTP that much tho. I rather go with one of text based protocols so the dilemma between Gopher and Gemini was on.

I did have Gopher and Gemini set up for a few days. Idea was to use gopherhole for phlog and Gemini capsule for everything else. After few days I run into a issue with lack of UTF-8 support in Gopher. Long story short I just moved everything to Gemini capsule. THEN THE REAL ISSUE EMERGE.

Gopher have long established name for blog content called "phlog"[0]. Name comes from convention of naming blogs "by media type"[1] with different prefix to word "log" or "blog". Video log is called "vlog", log in form of photos is called "photoblog" and so one. My question is: what is the proper name for Gemini blog?

[0] wikipedia: phlog

[1] wikipedia: blog

It looks like people are already divided into 2 fractions. The "gemlog" and "glog" camps. First is more specific, second shorter witch is often more convenient but can be mistaken by any other thing that starts with "g". How to chose?

Normally I would just chose what I think is better and never care about majorities opinion. This time I had no preference. So I did check what majority use with help of GUS the Gemini Universal Search engine. Simple search for "glog" and "gemlog" gives clear results.

GUS - Gemini Universal Search

name search results pages count
------ -------------- -----------
gemlog 2343 235
glog 160 16

I did end up using "gemlog". Still I'm not sure of my choice. There might be another name that I'm not aware of or official name hidden in dusted documentations.
