Jury

I am currently serving on a jury. Obviously, that's all the detail I can give until it's done.

It's a remarkable human experience, to me bearing all of the best and the worst aspects of socialism. On the good; it's proof that ordinary people with good will can collectively solve serious questions, and can---and must---be the best judges of justice. On the bad; it's an environment of strict power, surrounded by a State monopoly of violence in the form of armed officers, and where everyone knows jail is a very short way away.
