Another day, another missed opportunity to explore

Today I didn't get to spend much time on my computer at all. Never mind the small internet.

I spent a fair chunk of it relaxing and catching up on various youtube subscriptions, and exploring go's various network methods for handling raw packets.

I didn't want to not blog though, so I felt I'd get something up, even if it is particularly slice-of-life today.

I'm really excited and interested by the ideas around the small internet, and I've essentially got a few points of research that I'm exploring at present, both small internet and not so small internet.

One of those is following Ben Eater's 8 bit CPU project, and I just ordered (what should be) all the parts to create my own.

While I was looking for the components and tools I wanted to get for that project, I also came across an Instructables post by jamesvdberg for a VR headset powered by an Arduino Micro (which I already have), and decided to also buy a 6DoF gyroscope/accelerometer while I was already buying components from pimoroni, just so that when I manage to get the money together for the 5.5" 4K LCD that I think would work with it, I'll not have to dig too far for electronics and pay shipping etc because Germany.

I also spent a bit of time cleaning up my potential contributions to gemlog.sh, by ~nytpu, which it turns out as soon as I tooted, he cleaned it up and did most of what I was going to do anyway.

So all in all, a relaxing, if less productive day today. Should be in for a few nights of coding up more of the go packet project, and then toward the end of next week I want to explore some ideas of how I could better integrate tools into the tildeverse, and my usage of said tools. It's been nice hanging around in IRC, but the #meta channel seems very fast paced and with lots of existing relationships, and #club seems to be more relaxed, but less busy. I've been poking my head in, but I feel like I'll be able to contribute more over time.

Some people do seem to be doing pretty cool projects, at least as far as the conversations in #meta would suggest. So that seems like it could be a cool idea.

Until next time,
