tilde.wtf

The tilde.wtf web frontend is now complete! The design should be lightweight and is inspired by the vibe of the early WWW. Specifically I remember one of the first web pages I saw was Yahoo, back when it had a gray background and focused more on being a directory of the internet that just happened to support search. It was loaded via an early version of Netscape Navigator on a Mac that was donated to my school by Apple.

Fond memories of the Internet then. Browsing around random tilde pages provides a similar vibe.

In order to ensure I dogfood my own API, the frontend does not actually hook into the database directly. It actually is just an HTTP client to the `backtick` API which I previously wrote about and runs on search.tilde.wtf. I wanted to ensure the community had the same access for any other mediums to be supported in the future -- whether it's IRC, Gemini, etc.

I haven't implemented support for this just yet, but I would also like to look into offering a daily archive version of the database of all tildeverse content for download. For now, it's not that large and shouldn't be a problem bandwidth-wise. I'll invest some effort into it if anyone expresses interest.

Until then, I hope you enjoy the service and that you find some weird shit. :)
