Morality in dream content

I had a very bizarre dream a few months back. I was in a room with Donald Trump and his daughter. They were asking me to promise something: either to take some action or not to take some action. I don't remember the details, and I don't really care to remember them. Suffice it to say, I promised whatever it was. At that point, a voice in my head told me to remember that "A promise made to a servant of darkness is null and void."

Those were the exact words used. It stuck in my mind for some time after I awoke. The tone and wording reminded me of something that might be found in a holy book from some religion or other. To the best of my knowledge, no religion's scriptures contain that phrase. I felt as though I had channeled this statement from elsewhere or elsewhen during my dream.

I often pride myself on being "a man of my word." But I can certainly imagine scenarios in which I would throw that particular scruple right out the window.
