2024-02-25 Society needs therapy -- Understanding rise of right-wing currents as self organizing system

All over the world there is a strong movement towards right-wing ideas and forces.

Sometimes open, sometimes hidden, rising right-wing populistic currents vandalize democracy and strieve to destruct it.

There is a lot of discussion: how comes? what to do about it?

In order to understand what happens it is helpfull to move away from indiviuals and instead see this as a self organizing system.

As a farmer i can not grow corn. I can not grow apples.

A doctor can not grow a broken bone back into one piece.

All we can do is: take care for good conditions.

Under good conditions the body will heal the broken leg.

Under good conditions good corn and good apples will grow.

Now, today we have good conditions for right-wing forces to grow:

internet: superfast superwide spread of information

internet: perfect for spreading of informatin snippets

internet: possibility to publish any noncense in a pleasant, dead-serious looking way

internet: possibility to connect with like-minded, disconnect with other-minded people (in real-life this is not so easy)

google etc: see more and more like-minded people, web-pages, videos. See less and less of other opinions.

humans react fast with fear or greed. Both turn intelligent thinking down.

Under these conditions

people with strong opinions will find themself forced to use internet to publish their ideas

people with not so strong ideas get lost in overwelming nonsense. As long as you don't know what happens, it's a question of time until you get trapped in some bubble.

people with converse optinion find themself forced to fight for their ideas

now public discussion gets flooded with discussing nonsense: newspapers, TV, politics, they all find themselfs forced to state their opionen about a nonsense topic

The drain is clogged: public discussion, politics, institutions are less and less able to get their job done.

anti-democratic forces lean back in their gamers chair and smile

So, what now?

Fighting wrong ideas does not help. It makes things worse.

Fighting wrong ideas is like telling society not to think about an blue elephant. It makes the elephant bigger and bigger. Or telling an addict: oh, stop to think about your drugs and they will disappear.

Try to convince someone to the right path? Not working. Not a tousand buddhas can force you to become a buddha.

send society to some therapist? No! I can't even get my doughter to go there.

society has to heal itself

Again, what now?

???

I have no solution. An answer public discussion is totaly unable to accept.

Understand what happens.

teach what happens

less talking about ideas.

more growing of good solutions

We can't grow good solution.

How can we take care for good conditions?

Quite difficult for a doctor to take care for good conditions as long as vandalists play their games in the same room.

!! Keep vandalists out of this room, so care can be taken for whats needed.

2023-12-30 Time to Start a Blog

A few insights i got within the last weeks inspired me to start my own blog.

Here we are!

Weeks before Christmas, when nights got long and days got wet, gray and grayer, i went down a rabbit whole that never ends. Coming out the booty is ritch:

We are on Voidlinux, now. Void just works and holds it promises: a small maintainable stable rolling release. Alpine Linux realy hooked me up: how small and beautifull a website can be. When this Linux is as it's website, i am with you. Voidlinux is, as i understand it, similar to Alpine. And more for me: less musl and busybox, more manpages. Documentation of void is realy good! For now it runs in a 2GB Virtualbox-vm on an 8GB i3-550.

Netsurf web browser, originally comming from RICS-OS, is as a web browser should(?) could(?) be. Small binary, small installation, reasonable resouce usage. It works, it works fast, its fun to use. Sometimes i am suprised, how simple and beautiful sites appear with lots of crap ignored by Netsurf. Of cause as with todays web complexity, quite often i need to switch back to firefox. Voidlinux comes with Netsurf 3.10 from Mai 2020 packed. Netsurf 3.11 was released December 2023.
