DAYS 2-4

It is Thursday, day 4 of the OldComputerChallenge now, and honestly, i feel like i mostly forgot what i did with this computer the past few days, but i shall try to give a recap anyway.

On Tuesday, after lazing in bed a bit longer than i should have, i had breakfast, a shower and then packed my stuff for a longer train ride. I grabbed my Bike and rode to the nearest Swiss train station. From there i drove to Zürich HBf, where i transferred into the Eurocity to Chiasso and Milano, which took me through a monument of modern engineering, the gotthard base tunnel, 57km, 20 minutes, under up to 2km of rock, all while having decent enough onboard W-LAN that i could chat on IRC (but just with the web client for some reason) and post a picture to the fediverse. In Bellinzona i left the Eurocity, got a cold bottle of rivella in the stations convenience store, and then went on a mad dash to do *something* touristy with the half hour i still had until my next train was due. Something touristy turned out to be visiting the Castelgrande taking some hurried pictures with my phone, and then go back to the station. On the way back i took the way over the alps, through the old gotthard rail tunnel, at a thousand and a few metres elevation, this return trip was mostly nice too, as expected of Swiss railways, even without W-LAN, but towards the end i got into the evening traffic, so the last two trains were quite full, so i took the opportunity to stand after sitting so long. I arrived home just in time for Dinner (cold soup (that was meant to be cold), and the beet salad i made the evening before). In the evening i caught up with the IRC and my RSS feeds.

I had an appointment, did the usual IRC chatting, fedi reading, RSS feeding (or is it eating as the recipient) and then decided to fuck around with simh on the eeepc, because apparently i do not suffer enough yet, but my NETbsd vax installation was cut short by sway crashing, and killing the process because i didn't have simh in tmux, then i went to bed.

Not to be deterred by Wednesday's experience i tried to install netbsd in simh again, this time even being mostly successful, after about four hours of this poor device running full tilt, but alas, it caused me to run out of disk space (of which the eeepc only has 4GB) which causes all kinds of fun bugs if you do not notice it. After that it was more of the usual, lurking in IRC, fedi, and watching videos until dinner. After dinner is now, and now i wrote a gemlog entry, crazy, right?

I got fed up with the small keyboard and bad ergonomic of the eeepc so i changed it up a bit.

In talking about newsboat not working on various platforms i found out about newsraft, seems worth trying out maybe.
