words about computers i have, or used to have

Here i want to write about computers i own, or used to own in the past.

Computers, in this case, means basically everything that can compute, even smaller/more basic devices, not just personal computers, laptops and servers.

600x

The Thinkpad 600x is a laptop computer, introduced in late 1999, by IBM. It came equiped with some variant of the Intel Mobile Pentium III Processor and 64MB of Memory by default, it had a Neomagic MagicGraph256ZX GPU that fed a 1024x768 Screen.

L390

My current daily driver, I have the variant with a Intel Core i5-8265U and 16GB of Memory. I would describe it as: "not too bad, but the cooling is less performant than it would need to be for it to be considered a good laptop". I have been running Arch Linux with Sway on it for the last few Months and I have been fairly happy with that setup.

eeePC 4G

One of the early smaller netbooks, still runs modern Distros fine, but be aware that it only has 4GB of storage, so not much fits in there

Jornada 680

A PDA with a "full" keyboard, and a touchscreen, from the late 90s, it is based on the SuperH architecture, and has 16MB of ROM with Windows CE in it, and 16MB of RAM. It has a PCMCIA slot and a CF Card slot, running NetBSD or Linux should be possible, but i have not yet gotten around to doing that

Pixel 3a

My current smartphone, i bought it in 2020. I used to run LineageOS with Google-apps on it, but since the summer of 2021 i run LineagOS microg on it and i havent yet had any issues with my usage.

8110 4G

A KaiOS driven "smart feature phone" by HMD-Global that i got used in February of 2021, it currently has GerdaOS on it. I seem to have broken WIFI/Bluetooth at some point when disassembling and reassembling it. I would like to play with it some more, maybe try my hand at writing a few apps for it. Considering where we are here, a gemini client might be an interesting project.

GerdaOS, a custom ROM for KaiOS devices, seemed a bit stagnant the last time i looked.

L7 II

My first proper smartphone, and probably the gadget i own for the longest time, having been in my possession since 2014. I have made a postmarketOS port for it, but that is in a bit of a sorry state, since some changes outside of my control broke weston, or possibly all graphics.

Axon 7

The smartphone that succeeded the LG L7 II in 2016, at the time it was a budget friendly flagship alternative, being priced somewhere between 400 and 500€ and driven by snapdragon 820. It was the first device i used a custom rom on, but when lineageOS dropped support for it, and only increasingly obscure and weird custom roms provided support, while the hardware was slowly getting worse, and in parts broke, i decided to get a new phone. I was planning to hold out until i could get the pixel 4a, but that experienced delay after delay, and so i went for the pixel 3a.

PineTime

A fairly simple smartwatch made by the folks over at Pine64, i mainly use it for the step counting and getting notifications on my wrist so i don't need to get my phone out everytime it vibrates for some reason in the beginning it often had problems with the bluetooth connection just stopping working, but, as far as i am aware, that has been solved in current versions of the InfiniTime firmware.
