Revisit from 2022. My journal entry back then listed the following:
"M1 was very hard to see. I could make out what looked like a star whose light was diffused by a dark 'splotch'. With other tiny 'splotches' surrounding it."
Glad to have revisited this. My experience this time was quite a bit better. I got the appearance of a glow with some texture. The impression almost looked like a globular cluster, but at a fraction of the brightness that they usually seem to exude. AV helped bring out structure and texture, but did nothing to the size. The Ultrablock filter did not seem to help the target 'pop', but rather seemed to make details appear more easily when using AV.
