Keyboard Base

2021-01-27T20:23

I got stuck into my keyboard again last night.

Between coats of paint on the chassis, I painted a piece of ply that I would use for the base. Well, last night I trimmed it to size and fitted it.

I also fitted the USB adapter to the plate and made sure it actually lined up, which it fortunately did. But with all the paint, the plate didn't fit in its recess anymore. I filed it back to fit properly and gave it another coat of paint. Once the paint dries, it should be ready to assemble.

But I had some misfortune. While fitting the plate into the tight recess, a piece of paint chipped out. But a little worse, I somehow managed to drop my mallet on it and put a massive dent on the corner. I was happy for it to chip, scratch and dent and over time develop the patina of an old Stratocaster… but I hoped I could finish it before the process began.
