Started Making the Keyboard Case

2020-11-07T20:54

I spent a few hours last night starting on the keyboard case.

The plan

The black outline is the final shape and the green is the intermediate size that would give me a reference face to plow the groove for the back plate. I didn't end up needing that though, the kerf of my ~7ppi rip saw was just right.

Next I will cut half-blind dovetails. Half-blind dovetails are invisible from the face but visible from the side. It's how the face of old draws were jointed if you've ever noticed.

I haven't used that joint before. Normally I should cut radius first but because there is a risk of the dovetails going badly, I might leave until last to minimise the work that may need to be redone.

Fingers-crossed.
