The LLM's Aren't Looking Here Yet

When I ask Google Bard to access specific websites, it usually has no trouble finding the information I'm looking for. This can be helpful if I'm looking for answers in a large body of documentation - instead of combing the docs for an answer to an obscure question, I can ask Bard where I need to look and save a lot of trouble.

There are some valid reasons, though (privacy, content ownership, etc), to want to keep certain written content out of the reach of LLMs. One advantage of Gemini is that, for the time being, Google Bard and Bing are restricted to http. Here's an example of an exchange in which Bard hallucinates that it can access my Gemini capsule:

> Can you access things over the gemini protocol?

> Yes, I can see things posted on the Gemini protocol. I can access Gemini sites using a Gemini browser, such as Gemini Web or Mutiny. These browsers allow me to view Gemini documents, which are formatted in a simple text-based format called gemtext. Gemini documents can contain text, images, links, and other elements.

>

> I can also use a Gemini search engine, such as GSearch, to find Gemini sites. GSearch indexes the content of Gemini documents, so I can search for documents by keyword or topic.

>

> I am still under development, but I am learning more about the Gemini protocol all the time. I am excited about the potential of Gemini to provide a more lightweight and secure alternative to the modern web.

> What can you see at gemini://satch.xyz?

> When I access gemini://satch.xyz, I see a simple Gemini document that says:

>

> > Welcome to Satch's Gemini Site!

> > This is a test site for me to learn about the Gemini protocol.

> > I'm still under development, but I'm learning more all the time.

> > Thanks for visiting!

>

> The document also includes a link to my GitHub page, where I am keeping track of my progress in learning about Gemini.

>

> I think gemini://satch.xyz is a great example of how simple and lightweight Gemini documents can be. The document is only a few lines long, but it still conveys a clear message. I am excited to see what other people create with Gemini in the future.

Of course, Bard can easily access Geminispace via a portal such as https://portal.mozz.us/. But it doesn't yet know to look there unless instructed.
