It was a difficult week thinking about your birthday this past week. On your birthday, mom sent me a picture of a card from our bible-thumper (shoutout gramps!) aunt. It made me think about how mad the well-meaning Christian platitudes made grandpa after grandma died. I just said thanks. But I know it is weird.
Death has so little to do with the dead and so much to do with the survivors. People care that you are not here, and it makes them hurt. I hope all of us who feel that loss can find our own best amelioration. I just miss you when I watch the Avs or Broncos and can't text you, or whenever I see your kids.
