RE: Making Bread by alexschroeder

This is a short reply to `alexschroeder`

Making Bread

We have started making bread shortly before the pandemic started. Bread making is sort of a fad right now among my peers and at first I was not convinced that this is something I want to do.

But after the first lock-down and work-from-home began and I started to eat breakfast at home more, I changed my mind quickly! I also don't like the basic store bought bread anymore (though we have some very nice bakeries nearby that make more expensive but absolutely delicious bread).

To add my two cents for the aspiring bakers out there:

Baking (and cooking in general) is not an exact science — it's not about measuring everything just so and more about the look and feel

Don't get discouraged if the bread isn't good at first. It took us about five attempts to really figure it out (the most frequent issue being under-baked bread)

When searching for recipes, choose the one with the least amount of steps, ingredients and equipment. Once you get into it, you will discover that there are many different kinds of flour and endless possibilities

I should document my bread-making experiences at some point as well. Maybe I'll get around to it later.
