57 - Epilogue.

joneworlds@mailbox.org

Well, I finally got back home just yesterday. And you know, some people were surprised to see me back at all, given what happened. That ogre hunt surely went badly, especially for me, and I took a pretty bad hit out there and I still hurt from that. Without giving too much away, I had a little extra help and it probably saved my skin, and I owe them a thank-you.

But one lesson I learned: don't go hunting with a centaur. Because it's hard to share a hiding spot with a horse's ass. Should've been obvious in hindsight, right? Don't share a foxhole with one either, and for sure never share a gopher hole. It looks like they posted something with my account... who does that? Sorry you all had to read it. Well, at least I got my phone back from them now.

Maybe some time I'll write about what all went down that morning of the hunt, and the following 24 hours where that the ogre tracked me through the back woods. But for now let's just say that particular ogre won't be bothering folks around here any time soon. And I had a few adventures making my way home afterwards, but that's a story for another time too.

And I guess life could start getting back to normal again by now. But, I think it's time for a change - for me anyways. I decided that I need a vacation, which for me just means driving up the valley a while to turn up somewhere, and getting away from here a while. My dad somehow put together a runner from his pile of dirty cars, and he says I can have it, so that'll do.

I think I'll still be writing in my journals, even while on vacation, but I think I won't be posting them on here so often from now on. I have this feeling that a post every two days could be a little too much and too fast for gopher world, based on what I see most others doing. I'm just trying to fit in, you know. And so guess I should write some more things about computers, too.

I will be adding a faveicon for sure! No I won't, only kidding. Don't even know what I'm talking about.

I spent a while saying good-bye to people. Del, Pete, Hat, Del's mom, a few others, even PJ. I think some of them get why I got to go away for a while, and that a while could really mean forever. And I really wanted to say goodbye to Ellie, but that can never happen, now.

And I heard the elfs in the complex have been quiet or missing this past week. I can't say what that might mean. A lot of stuff happened lately and I don't know what it means. I suppose that's a bit unsettling, but I think a lot of stuff in life is that way if you sit and think about it a bunch. So maybe I won't do that. If there's one thing I ought to know how to do by now, it's to drift along and get by without getting bothered by all the missing pieces.

Anyways, the so-longs get awkward after a while like they always do. Maybe it got there a little quicker than I thought they would, but it's okay. I head back to my place and make some sandwiches, get some extra clothes and things, some bottles of ibuprofen, and the rest of the money. That old car has a funny smell about it and an even funnier sound to it, but I get in and I go.

When I turn onto St. Gavin Way on my way to highway 12, I see this gang of dwarfs in the lot where the toyota dealership used to be. They all got their trash grabbers out, and their beards tucked into their belts, and they're trying to chip away at that old mess. And somehow this cheers me up just a tick. I needed that.

See you.
