52 - Dropped off the keys.

joneworlds@mailbox.org

The other day I went over to Del's mom's house. Under the cushion of the couch in the old Dodge camper van out back is where I keep hidden my collection of the blue-stone keys that I found last year. And I remember how bad the elfs wanted the one I showed to them, and maybe now I know why. I've been hesitant to hand them over, because I've been worried it would cause some trouble. And I'm still worried about that. But I haven't yet thought of a good way to sort this out. Sure I found all these keys, but they aren't mine. And so I'm just going to go for it. I take the whole lot home, put them in a bag, and when night falls I slip out my front door and over to the elfs' unit a few up from me. I put the bag into their mail box by the front door, and sneak home. I hope this works out okay.

When I get back home, I have a hell of a fright. I'm there in the kitchen making a peanut butter sandwich, when I notice something out the sliding glass back door. I look up, and in the moon light I see this creature glowering in at at me with bright keen eyes. It's standing up with a body like a person, but with thick grey fur, and a huge wolf's head. And I have to admit I was about as shocked and frightened by this as I've ever been in my life. I've seen some stuff, but I never saw anything like that before.

It stares at me for a few moments more, and then it turns to go. But it trips over the rubber garden hose laying there, and falls flat on its face. Then it gets up and skulks off. And guess I felt a bit better after seeing that. But it was still pretty weird.

Next - 53 - That got pretty ugly.
