Friday

No day of the week is so hard for my family and I as Friday. I thank G-d every day for my many blessing, but the sentiment behind TGIF I've never understood. The dual pressure of work and preperation for Shabbos is difficult, but Shabbos itself is a blessing.

Connection

Shabbos is a constraint on preoccupation and superficial connection, which distract from meaningful connection. When we power down our devices and cease striving for a day we turn to our family and our community to reinforce our relationships, and we turn to G-d in thanks for all that we have and in prayer for all that we need. There is nothing so valuable as this.
