Don't Say PC When You Mean Windows


"PC" stands for "personal computer". Windows is one of a countless number of operating systems that can run on PCs.


Occasionally the terms "PC" and "Windows" are used interchangeably. I ask people not to do this because:


It may confuse laypeople

It may confer a sense of primacy to Windows and secondariness to other operating systems


If you catch someone using these terms interchangeably, please explain why they should not do this.
