Maybe back to Mis- err, Sharkey?

When I first joined the Fediverse, I was on a witch-themed Mastodon server. It was nice, though the server software was often out of date. Later I joined SDF, fell in love with them, and migrated to their Mastodon server (god I love how you can migrate Fediverse data). Things were awesome.

Later still I installed Misskey on my own server to check it out. At that point I decided to split up my accounts into a personal one on Misskey, and a non-personal one on the SDF Mastodon. The idea was that I could do my funny picture posting, lewd comments, etc. on Misskey, and then post updates and such about my projects on Mastodon. This was going fine, but then I found out that some blocklists for the Fediverse block my domain for the sole reason that it's a dynamic DNS service, which is just stupid. Also, I was missing having a local timeline with more people than just myself. So... I decided to just make my SDF Mastodon account my sole account once again.

...but of course, now I find myself missing Misskey XD

So, the other night I installed Sharkey, a really cool Misskey fork, and got it all connected and federating. I'm still on that same dynamic DNS service, but whatever. I've been slowly testing it, making sure things I post on it show up correctly, that I can see others' posts, that I can follow people and be followed... all the normal stuff. Things seem working, and it's even working a bit better than Misskey did.

But what the hell am I going to use it for?

One thing I want to do is write a few bots using the API. Ideas I have for bots include:

A bot that posts pictures of Mori Calliope

A bot that posts pictures of Shiori Novella

A bot that posts pictures of Remilia Scarlet (the character, not me)

A bot that has some functionality similar to my Matrix/Discord bots (!rate, !decide, etc)

A bot that posts jokes

A bot that posts hilariously constructed text using good ol' Markov chains

The API's documentation is shit, but oh well, that'll just make it more fun. Some of these will actually need some serious design thought, too, so that they don't react to inappropriate requests, or post inappropriate things. I'll also have to figure out bandwidth and space. But all of this sounds fun, actually.

The other idea I had was to once again have a "personal" account on Sharkey, but a bit different this time. The Mastodon account would be my main account, and the Sharkey one would be _only_ for lewd stuff. This would provide a bit of a margin between my programming stuff where I try to be professional[1], and my still-as-lewd-and-horny-as-a-teenager side that I can't (and don't want to) get rid of. I mean, if I didn't have any ties to SDF, I would just move everything to Sharkey at this point, but I'm a mod there, and I really care about SDF, so I don't want to do that to them.

Oh well, we'll see what happens. I'll post the link to the instance once I finalize some more things (it's not the same URL as last time). I'm open to feedback from friends and whatnot.

Is instance hopping even a thing? Like distro hopping?
