Re: Book Reading Challenge

Ew0k started a book reading challenge on the 20th.

This was also around the same time I saw ploum recommend the book "Rebel Code" by Glynn Moody, which looked really interesting to me.

So for the past half week or so I've been reading "Rebel Code" while trying to get into the habit of reading more often. It's been enjoyable so far and I hope the habit sticks! I've replaced some of my online time right before bed with about 20-30 minutes of reading which I think has been a smart change. That's enough to put me firmly in the bronze tier of ew0k's challenge, and silver is within reach if I choose to replace even more time.

The book is also really interesting as I had hoped. It's an engaging history on Linux with plenty of quotes from interviews, and it does a good job of not getting too technical or surface level. Something that strikes me so far is the number of things that had to line up at the same time for Linux to have gone the way that it did.

I'll have more thoughts on the challenge and the book later but I wanted to give a quick update in the meantime. If you're looking to build or strengthen a reading habit, consider giving the challenge a go!
