Mifuyne's Tinylog

2024-03-03 15:34 EST

Writing scripts for nushell was different...running it is different too. Jury's out if I like it better than bash or not.

I'm debating if I want to implement a post-commit hook like I did with the previous version of this capsule. Maybe after I can be sure my "day-to-day" usage doesn't break anything!

2024-03-02 03:00 EST

Been away from this for a while. Rebuilding the capsule to use hugo as the capsule generator. Maybe it's overkill, but I do enjoy the flexibility. Learning a lot about using it too. Will probably put out a new post detailing the efforts later.

After finding out about gempub, I've been thinking what could I make that I can distribute as a gpub file? Ray Bradbury's short fiction is a bit of an inspiration. Maybe I should try writing some short/flash fiction.

Not a fan of Winter. I keep waking up feeling exhausted. Worst time to try and fix my sleep schedule!

2024-01-31 04:06 UTC

Ah geez...I haven't posted here in a while. I don't know if microblogging is for me. Even if some of my gemlog posts could been a tinylog entry, I prefer to say more.

I'll try and use this more anyway...

It's kind of crazy how I have to restart Firefox sometimes because github decided to eat up a *lot* of RAM. May need to look into what's causing that to happen. Makes me appreciate Lagrange and the lack of bloat of Gemini space though!

I got Palworld...and I haven't been thrown into a moral quandry like I had with this game. Beating the pals (or palmons) with a stick just so I can capture them seemed cruel 😢 There's also a Pal passive called "Worker Slave." It boosts their work efficiency. I wish it was named something else though. Still a fun game, will keep playing. I assume the verbage being questionable is more a cultural difference.

And hey, at least they seem happy about finishing a job. I try to keep them fed and give them a roof to sleep under! 🙃

Tried helix-editor for a bit, but I rather continue learning vim's keybindings, not just vim-style. Went back to Neovim and set it up so I can do some distraction-free writing on it with Goyo and LimeLight! Hopefully I can actually stick this out instead of bouncing around like I tend to.

Whew! It's been a few days since I've wrote anything for this capsule. Sorry! Been spending a lot of my free time playing games. I'll try and keep the capsule updated more frequently! I'm still around!

Never did I thought I would enjoy the Monster Hunter games as much as I have been. Yet, here I am, spending my free time playing Monster Hunter: Rise!

So it turns out I didn't lose the data. It was auto-saved. But to do that on left-arrow presses does not impress me at all. I had to go in and clean the tinylog file.

Ah well, live and learn. And this whole experience in gemini have been a series of learning experiences!

2024-01-15 07:08 UTC

Found out about a distraction-free terminal text editor through a gemlog. I wanted to like it but having the left arrow send some kind of termination signal to the program put me off. I'm back on NeoVim.

2024-01-15 03:18 UTC

Of course it wouldn't work on Windows because the programs used weren't compiled for Windows! Which means I'm limited to using WSL and git CLI. Which is fine. More practice 😊

2024-01-15 03:16 UTC

Well, looks like my go-to git GUI won't fire the post-commit hook. Time to find something more suitable.

2024-01-15 03:10 UTC

Second night of me trying to make my capsule updating workflow as cross-platform as I need it to be. Between Windows and Ubuntu. Hopefully this time, I don't accidentally wipe out my content folder.

2024-01-15 02:03 UTC

I seem to be losing more time to writing comments or content on gemini space. I'm not addicted! ...I hope!

2024-01-15 00:36 UTC

I set up my own duckling proxy, for local use 😊 which led me down a few rabbit holes to get it all working the way I wanted to. Setting up the proxy was easy enough with the quick start guide. It was getting it to run when I want it to that resulted in rabbit holes!

Turns out the git GUI I was using didn't execute the hook I made. It works fine if I used git's CLI. I know it's because I was using a GUI installed via flatpak and you need to explicitly give it permission. Problem is the dev didn't really make it clear whether or not that's the only issue or it's just not implemented? Either way, I grabbed a different GUI, through the package manager this time, and it worked just fine.

2024-01-14 08:43 UTC

Finally learned to use git hooks. Set it up so that it'll rebuild the site and publish it after a commit. Maybe this will help me get into the habit of committing my changes with this capsule!

2024-01-14 08:20 UTC

And you know, all that was because I found one of my gmi files had a question mark in the filename. In an NTFS file system. The generator I used didn't strip non-alphanumeric characters. Can't say I'm impressed right now. The temptation to make my own generator have risen once again.

2024-01-14 08:19 UTC

Man...I messed up big time. Deleted the wrong folder and found myself rebuilding my capsule. Also found out I forgot to commit my changes to the git repo. Live and learn.

2024-01-14 02:08 UTC

Seriously, where does the time go?! It was just 8 PM not that long ago. Now I look, it's past 9 PM! This winter and my screwed up sleep schedule is really messing with my sense of time.

2024-01-13 01:56 UTC

RIP AND TEAR! ...Except in Warhammer 40K. I picked Boltgun up a while ago and it's been quite fun! There were some rough final battles, but I got through them. I could see some places where an upgrade system would be nice, but I haven't seen anything like that except temporary upgrades that disappear after you finish the level. Might make a review once I'm closer to the end.

2024-01-13 01:24 UTC

I'm actually excited to have a working...workflow for my gemini capsule. It was neat to put it together by hand at first, but for something I want to update more frequently, it didn't feel realistic.

2024-01-13 01:09 UTC

Finally got Zond to work! Missing some features but that might be something I can help with in the near future. It's that or forking it.
