I believe I've hit upon a way that will finally transcend my silly beliefs about the power of words on screens: I've quit my software job to become a math and comp sci teacher of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Never taught before. But the need is apparently so great the state has paved simpler paths from tech industry types to licensed teacher-hood.

I'm incredibly excited, despite understanding the challenges. In fact, I look forward to those challenges making me feel alive again....

That's awesome news! I look forward to hearing how it goes. It'll certainly be a challenge, I'm sure, but hopefully a rewarding one. You'll get to be that one teacher that someone says changed their life one day.
