My Pong

~yretek

I just made my first videogame, a pong clone. It's funny because I've done a bit of programming at work and even a text based game or two, but never something remotely graphical.

The whole thing was extremely easy to accomplish using Lua + Löve 2D, which I suggest you to try if the idea of coding some sort of videogame is in the back of your mind.

Next project would be a Space Invaders clone, and if that works out, I'll work on a exploration, resource management game with a post-apocalyptic theme, to be tentatively called Sergeant Mom.

Hey, cool! This morning I wrote in spanish a quick rant on why we clone Pong using the keys and not the rotating dial, and made me think why we start with pong. (It's one of the first games we recommend to make)

It's an old classic, and moving a ball and the paddles feels great, I guess we can't have that making a traditional app or a text based game (which I like)

Lua+Love2D brings me great memories:

Best wishes with Space Invaders and Sergeant Mom, and enjoy your journey creating games!

hey, that's so cool! i've heard a bit about lua and löve 2d, it sounds pretty neat. i've been slowly making some small games using godot (with gdscript, a python-esque language). it's really fun to create something that's interactive!

good luck with sergeant mom—it sounds intriguing.

Sounds good. What inspired the name "Sergeant Mom"?
