Midnight Pub

That weird sensation when you drink a sour beer after an IPA

~bartender

On the right, you can see the lounge. It's warm in there since there's a fireplace. Well, I say warm, but the fireplace isn't lit yet. We're waiting a few weeks to make it ready for the holiday season. You can also see the smoking area and a few new places. That's it - that's the Midnight, and I'm thrilled to be back! Well, I still haven't seen smudge, starbreaker's cat around... yet?

I was looking at the previous posts and I saw something that caught my attention. Inquiry wrote a bash + lua script to create quotes. And it actually works like magic!

> I feel as though I've found ways (the above being the
> latest example). They aren't slick. They could easily go
> unnoticed. But if you even just somewhat believe in fate,
> part of me wants to believe the right readers will chance
> upon such, and be smart enough to make the connection to
> what ever link I include.
>
> - Inquiry

Hmmm... it certainly takes me back to using vi, which isn't a bad thing!

> Hello everyone, nice to see you there.
>
> - Youness

Welcome Youness! I'm glad you found your way to the Midnight even though it can be a little hidden. We're still working on the coziness of the place. In the meantime, anything you'd like to drink?

> Something about the minimalism of a text-centric aesthetic
> just gives a website the feeling that there something
> substantial there. It’s not all just a bunch of shiny
> things, but you might actually find something interesting
> within all that text.
>
> - Cody

Cheers to written words. There certainly isn't anything more simple nor complex at the same time.

> Anyways, after getting into a physical altercation with a
> manipulative and toxic now ex-roommate (I didn’t start
> the fight, but I did finish it), and this all on the same
> day as being laid off, it’s been a whirlwind these past
> few weeks. Scrambling to find a friends place to stay for
> the night, figuring out AirBnb reservations, or falling
> back on the more economic option of ‘urban camping’.
>
> - Cody

That's tough. Last week has been strange on my end. Not in a bad way, but not in a good way either. It's almost like time passes but I'm losing touch with reality. Being locked down and away from people I know makes me question reality at times. Is everything around me even real? Am I dreaming right now or is that real world?

> All of this has been made bearable, thanks to my best
> friend, who’s voluntarily opted to stay by my side
> throughout all of it. She’s also my girlfriend, and while
> I’m sure she’ll never read this, I just wanted to give
> a S/O to Elle, for being the most amazing companion and
> support system a boy could ever even dream to be lucky
> enough to have in their life.
>
> - Cody

That's what I like to hear! Well, with that said, any drink you'd like to celebrate being with your best friend? Hope you had a great night!

As I take a tour to the Terrace, I see overproof. I'm bringing their old fashioned. I can see they are contemplating people. This city is a strange place. People are strange as well. Always running. It's good to stop for a while.

> If I could ever assess with any degree of certainty, I
> would be more interested to know the emotional contexts
> and attachments, if any, might be driving their decisions
> to listen to what they are.
>
> - overproof

I don't know if that's the case for you, but there are a few songs I can't ever listen without feeling miserable. Literally crying out loud! Which is strange, right? It's almost like those "vibrations" trigger an internal program which makes me feel terrible. It's scary too!

Since you've asked what song, here are some. I won't be telling you which ones makes me sad though, I'm too scared of hearing them on the jukebox! Strangely enough, the Tron legacy (2010) soundtrack is my go-to music to focus. Anytime I need to get any work done, I listen to it.

Anyhow, warm welcome to everyone, this is your home, make yourself comfortable. I'll be at the bar if you need anything -- oh and thank you inquiry for your quotation tool!

While I haven't a clue how to use any of these tools, its pretty nice to see the new place. Maybe I'll bring my dog by, she's always a fan of people
