What's your homepage?

~martin

One of my favorite activities in the late 90's and early 00's was to look at people's homepage. Not just blog, but actual homepage. The layout, the fonts, the colors, the background music if there was one. I guess there's an element of surprise when you visit a new place. I feel like most of today's content is standardize and creativity is surrounded by bigger constraints. So it got me curious... And after a bit of searching I found that page:

cameronsworld (warning: lots of gifs)

Are homepage still a thing in 2020? While I don't have one, I really consider putting one together. I'd love to see if other patrons have one!

I have had more than one, if you count Wordpress blogs. None of which exist now, except for some writing that I thought worth keeping and saved. I've toyed with bringing something back under my abacushex handle. I do have the domain name. Hmmmm...

I don't know as I have one. I write here, and the longer pieces are mirrored on write.as:

But that's about it. I just discovered Obsidian as a possible personal wiki/commonplace book, though, and it looks quite promising:

That said, I do have every intention of putting together my own site sooner or later (probably via neocities, which has already been mentioned).

My homepage is just a bunch of long form articles and weird lists:

Just implemented automatic Dark Mode there.

I hope mine counts because I'm certainly *trying* for it to feel more like a homepage than a blog...

...but the best homepages of our era I see are on Neocities.

One feature I wish that browsers would figure out is freeze-framing GIFs for people with prefers-reduced-motion set; I love the Over-The-Top-ness of glitter text and such, but it's a decent amount of effort to make sure it doesn't flicker for people that are bothered by that.

This is the closest I've got to a homepage. It's much more restrained than Cameron's World.

I think the closest thing I have is a linktree but now I am mighty tempted.
