This is the presentation I used for a session at BarCamp London 7 (BCL7) about oEmbed, “a format for allowing an embedded representation of a URL on third party sites”.
In a nutshell, providers will return structured data as a response to be easily processed and displayed on your site.
WordPress 2.9 and others will use this API.
