The TYT TH9800 is a quad band (10m, 6m, 2m &ย 70cm) FM Mobile radio. It is an almost exact clone of the Yaesu TH8900, right down to the display. Sadly this doesn't extend to the firmware...
To change band, press and hold the tuning knob
The 6 letter buttons are "hyper memories", set those to change almost every setting on the radio with one button press.
Set a "home" frequency for each band. Dial in 145.500, for example, press and hold the "set" button (in the middle) then press "HM". You can now find an unused frequency, press HM and return to the calling channel, put out your call and go directly to the empty frequency by pressing HM again.
Only the left VFO will do 10m, 6m and AM
No such luck so far. The radio isn't compatible with the Yaesu microphone connection, and despite getting the wiring diagram and opening up my microphone, I haven't yet got anything working.
Have been numerous for me. I've had the 2m power amplifier fail 3 times. TYT have now released a "plus" version with allegedly upgraded components so hopefully my latest radio will last.
