it's autumn!

i love cranberry sauce, and i love making it.

i love sweets that are also tart.

i love how easy it is.

i love sneaking little surprises into my recipes.

this year i've made two batches like this:

materials

12℥ (one package) fresh cranberries

½c orange juice, preferably fresh

½c white sugar

fresh ginger, about the size of your thumb, peeled and whole

one clove of star anise (i know right!)

procedure

dump all that shit into a saucepan or small pot. you're only making a little over 2c (about 1L) of stuff.

bring to a vigorous simmer, stirring occasionally.

once the cranberries have been melting and popping for a while, and once the sauce starts sticking a little to the bottom of the pan, remove from heat.

remove the star anise and ginger.

let sit, then refrigerate or eat warm!

honestly who knows if the infused herbs do anything, but i like the overall taste!
