Regarding this matter, even if there are clients that don't have some version of an "up" operation, it is to be expected that all clients have "back", which is just an essential part of how browsing was meant to work on Gemini.
If you reached a page on some capsule via a link and want to then proceed to browse the rest of that capsule, at worst you would edit the URI yourself to navigate to some root folder.
