While Gemini doesn't have a cookie system or a client side code execution or a user agent system or not even a way to login to anything, genuine sites can track you using your IP address. I don't think they will, I don't see why they would do that, but why not hitting the final nail on the coffin. In the early age of the web, people were trusting each other after all.
The solution is to use tor. Tor hides your IP address by passing your request encrypted on the tor network before reaching the server with the site you try to visit. The site that recive your request can't know your IP address that way. You can do more than that using tor but that is what most of people use it for and that is the propriety we will use here.
The solution shown here is for Linux users. I don't use windows or mac OS so you might have to find your own way if you don't use Linux.
For debian distributions do:
sudo apt install tor torify git
git clone https://github.com/MasterQ32/kristall.git
cd kristall
make
do:
tor
in an other terminal in the same directory:
torify ./kristall
If everything goes well, crystal will start using the tor network. This works with all Gemini clients.
Keep in mind that sites may finger print your using response times but that seems to be discussed in the Gemini protocol git issues and might be changed in the future.
