My weekend away from civilization has reminded me of a few things.
Turn off your phone and put it away once in a while. You'll forget all about it soon enough.
Open the window.
Narrow down your choices, and you won't be bored with the choices you have.
Books can be more enjoyable than video games.
The glow of a campfire is good for you.
Prefer analog. If analog is not available, prefer offline.
Prefer dedicated.
Prefer mechanical.
Silence is comforting, not scary.
A sunrise is still one of the most beautiful things you'll ever see.
Starlight is perhaps the least-discussed extinctions in modern history. Treasure it where you find it, and don't spoil it for others.
A box of macaroni can bring people together in a more meaningful way than a thousand-dollar Michelin Star restaurant.
And perhaps most importantly: don't lose your sense of direction.

We spent a lot of time on trails over the weekend. The area was heavily wooded, with few features to explore, but one section had some lovely clearings and small meadows tucked alongside. This one looked particularly favorable as a campsite to us.
