Solo Roleplaying Thoughts

Apothecaria - 8/23/22 - Test Play and Thoughts

Apothecaria is a delightful game where you are a potion making witch who helps the town with magical diseases while discovering how the previous witch disappeared. It leans heavily to the solo journal writing side of solo roleplaying and all you technically need are the rules, a place to write and a deck of standard playing cards.

I say technically as I found there were things that help.

-There are no mechanical ways to generate NPCs so its helpful to have resources for this if you are like me and struggle to generate them off the top of your head.

-The foraging events get repetitive, I looked up relevant thematic encounters on the internet to supplement.

-The timer rules are vague but make more sense if you just use 12 ticks to forage extra supplies and some downtime. Most early illnessess can be wrapped up quickly.

That said I really enjoyed my flawed time with this game so I am eager to get back once I have some encounters and NPCs on demand.
