Acceptable

They say speech is acceptable

When it fits into norms

They say it's reprehensible

If it strays in its forms

They want us to believe their lies

That truth always prevails

We all should simply close our eyes

Ignoring all details

"Think for yourself!" I want to plead

But they've stolen that phrase

"Facts are real; feelings shouldn't lead."

They've used in such foul ways

Can we share truth and love with all

And not give in to hate?

Without the words what can we call

Bigotry with such weight?
