The Rowboat

Society is driven like a row boat. Individuals work together to propel it in a direction we choose. However, not all of us agree which direction we should go.

Most of us row in one direction, and raise our children to also row in that direction. Others believe that direction is harmful and raise their children to row in another direction.

The majority rows in one direction, and for the most part, everyone else is drowned out and ignored. The majority has replaced rowing with motor engines while the others still row. The minority either consist of too few members or they are hopelessly behind in technology.

When the iceberg is seen ahead, it costs to much to turn away. We plow right towards it, hoping beyond hope that everything will be okay.

A few of us work on rowing another direction, but it does nothing to change the overall course.

Some decide it would be best to simply make a raft and row in another direction independently. This seems noble at first, but they depend on the first ship for basic supplies to proceed on their voyage. They can never separate themselves far enough to be safe from their impending doom.

We are all dependent on the boat racing for its doom, and there is little we can do to stop its current course.
